Message from the School Captain
“Leadership is not about titles, it’s about impact, influence, and inspiration.”
As the Head Prefect of S. Thomas’ Preparatory School for 2025, it is both an honour and a
responsibility to uphold the legacy of this esteemed institution. Prep School is more than just a
place of education; it is a home that shapes young boys into men of integrity, character, and
purpose.
For 87 years, our school has stood as a beacon of excellence, not only in academics but also in
instilling values that last a lifetime. Each student who walks through these gates becomes part of
a legacy built on discipline, determination, and the drive to be the best version of oneself. Here,
we learn that true education is not confined to books—it is found in the lessons of teamwork,
respect, and perseverance.
What makes Prep School truly unique is its close-knit community. With a student body small in
number but vast in spirit, we grow up knowing one another, forging friendships that last beyond
our school years. The friendships among Prepites is unmatched, creating a brotherhood that
supports, uplifts, and strengthens each student.
Under the guidance of our dedicated teachers and the unwavering leadership of our Headmaster,
Rev. Fr. Nihal Fernando, Prep School continues to evolve while remaining rooted in its rich
traditions. Our Headmaster’s commitment to upholding the values of our alma mater ensures that
every student has the opportunity to shine.
This year, as I take on the role of Head Prefect. My message to every Prepite is simple: Make
the most of your time here. Step out of your comfort zone, embrace challenges, and strive
for excellence in all that you do. Success is not about being better than someone else—it is
about being better than who you were yesterday.
As we move forward, let us carry the unwavering spirit of Prep School—strong in character,
determined in purpose, and united as one. May we honour the legacy of our past, embrace the
opportunities of the present, and work together to build a future that upholds the values of our
beloved school. Through every challenge and triumph, I stand firm in my faith, knowing that
with God’s strength as my guide, I will never walk alone. For as Romans 8:31 reminds us, “If
God is for us, who can be against us?” With this assurance, I am ready to lead, serve, and
inspire my fellow Prepites to strive for excellence in all they do.
“The Lord is my Shepherd”
