The Tamil Debating Society of S. Thomas’ Preparatory School was introduced in the year 1950. The society is open to the students of the Middle and Upper school and is led by a committee consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Editor.

Meetings are held once a month in the school premises. Each and every member is passionately involved in the activities of the society. 

The debaters participate in the All-Island Debating Competition which is held annually.
