The Interact Club of S. Thomas’ Preparatory School was initiated on the 15th of December 1980 by the Rotary Club of Colombo Central under the guidance of Rotary Advisor Mr. L. Balendra and Headmaster Mr. J.S.L. Fernando. The club received its Charter the following year and the presentation of the Charter Certificate took place on the 20th of July 1985.
Committing to the motto of Interact ‘Service before Self’, the club has managed to organize countless projects in the avenues of Community Service, Green Life, Club Service, and International Understanding. A few noteworthy projects include providing furniture to the Methodist Tamil High School in Kollupitiya, Red Alert, an Awareness Campaign organized in 3 phases discussing vital topics such as Aids and Drug Abuse, Cancer Awareness and Mosquito related diseases, sponsoring the Education of Children at the SOS Children’s Village, Revolution of Sounds along with the Interact Club of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia in aid of the Fortrose Building are among the many organised over the years.
Since its inception, the Interact Club has managed to mold its members into great leaders, caring for the Community and Environment with the main focus of ‘Service to Community’.
