Student Savings Unit

The Students’ Savings Unit is a mini bank unit operated by the students of grade 10, with the aim of continuing its pioneering efforts, to inculcate the savings habit amongst the students of Grade 01 to 09.

It was launched at the school premises during the second term of 2019 under the guidance of our then Headmaster Rev. Dushantha Rodrigo and the assistance of the two advisors Mr. M. Pradeepan and Mrs. Menuka Vithanage of Seylan Bank PLC, Colombo 03.

Through the unit, student managers (student coordinators) are groomed to take on leadership roles by running a mini bank in the school and getting actively involved in promoting the habit of saving among fellow students. Training workshops are conducted by Seylan Bank PLC, Colombo 03, to train the student coordinators in order to carry out their roles effectively.

During the 1st term of 2020, the Students’ Savings Unit introduced ‘Tikiri’ accounts for the Grade 1 students.

The Students’ Savings Unit is located in the school premises, next to the school bookshop. It is open on all 5 days of the week from 7.00am – 7.30am and 10.45am – 11.45am. The Teacher-In-Charge of the Students’ Savings Unit is Mrs. Ashwini Gunasekara.
