The school Hewisi Band was established in 1982 with the assistance of Mr. Thalgahagoda. During that time, he was assisted by Mrs. Dana Perera. In 2016, Mr. Suraj Peiris took over from Mr. Thalgahagoda as the instructor of the Hewisi Band.

The Hewisi Band plays a pivotal role in many school functions such as the Sports-Meet, Founders Day, etc.  The band also participates in a number of shows and events organised by other schools and organisations. In the last two years, the Hewisi Band has participated in ‘Ridhma Gathika’, a band show organised by Ladies College and “Kailasa” a band show organised by S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia. Our Hewisi Band also had the privilege of performing at the welcoming ceremony held for the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Band practices are held every Friday from 6.45am to 7.45am at the school hall or in front of the dining hall. The current Teacher-In-Charge of the Hewisi Band is Mrs. Nimali Gamage.
